We’ve finally arrived at our destination, Yellowstone National Park. We were here for 5 nights and stayed in 3 different locations. Consequently, I will be dividing the dialogue/photos into 3 separate sequential events.
We arrived at the West entrance to Yellowstone and it was raining; a posted sign recommended snow tires and/or chains. A few miles into the park we began ascending in altitude and the weather got colder and the snow began coming down. The snow on the trees and in the air was beautiful and when we arrived at Eleanor Lake I had to stop and take a few photos. It was snowing pretty hard but the roadway was just wet; the pull-off’s, however, had about 2” of slush accumulated. Snow tires nor chains were not necessary. I don't know that I would have been comfortable on a motorcycle, however. We saw our 1st buffalo on the trip shortly after Eleanor Lake. Our destination was the Old Faithful Inn where we spent 2 nights. The photos in the below slide show are images captured our first 2 days in the park. The yellow 1937 White Touring Car pictured in the slide show was our transportation for a photo shoot the next morning. We had to be up at 05:30 am to meet the driver, Rod, a retired photographer from NYC, working the summer season in Yellowstone. Rod shuttled us around for about 6 hours where we got to capture so great images.
Tomorrow I will share images from around Mammoth Hotel where we stayed for the 3rd and 4th nights in Yellowstone.
